Ramblers Secure Back-to-Back Sweeps

CHICAGO -- Loyola Chicago secured back-to-back sweeps over Fordham, taking the Rams down in straight sets again on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Gentile Arena. The Ramblers improved to 14-10 overall and 11-3 in Atlantic 10 play.

Sophomore outside hitter Leyna Nguyen led Loyola's offense with 13 kills on .270 hitting, and junior middle Chloe Morgan added 10 while hitting .471. Defensively, both Jae Fitting and Sam Falk reached double-figure kills, with 11 and 10, respectively. From the front row, Morgan put up five blocks.

Coach Quote: Amanda Berkley
"We came out strong in the first set, they gave us a few points, but I'm proud of the response we had in the first set. There were a few hiccups in the second and third sets, but we closed it out each time at the end. Chloe's been working really hard and putting herself in position to get set. Especially against this team, she was able to find ways to score around the block; she was up in transition, which is what we needed. Both of our middles did a good job of being up and available."

How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers took control on the first point and never looked back to win the first set 25-14. Loyola opened up its biggest lead, 11 points, to close out the set. Nguyen had five of the 12 kills.

SET 2 | Loyola hit .310 in the second set to win it 25-22, totaling 17 kills in the frame. Morgan had seven kills on .778 hitting in the stanza and added one block.

SET 3 | The home team finished off the sweep with a 25-21 victory in the final set, taking control for good at 13-12. Morgan posted three blocks in the set to help propel Loyola to victory.
