KINGSTON, R.I -- In its fourth Atlantic 10 contest of the season, Loyola Chicago battled Rhode Island to a 1-1 draw on Sunday, Oct. 4. The Ramblers moved to 4-2-6 overall and 1-0-3 in league play.
"I thought the team played and battled really hard today. Overall, we are really happy with the effort," said head coach Jon Sandoval. "We had them pinned for most of the second half and were a little unlucky to not find the winner. I'm excited to see this group continue to progress down the stretch."
How it Happened
Loyola broke open the 0-0 tie with graduate student Emily Roberts' first career goal in the 28th minute. Senior Zoe Hevey sent a free kick into the box, headed in by Roberts to the right back of the net past the keeper. The Rams leveled the match almost 10 minutes later in the 37th minute. Â
Despite taking eight shots in the second half, the Ramblers couldn't find another and the score held for the remainder of the match.Â
