FAIRFAX, Va. – The Ramblers fell on the road Thursday night to the Patriots, 4-0. Loyola Chicago played down two players following red cards, allowing George Mason to take advantage of a shorthanded squad.
With the loss, Loyola falls to 6-4-3 overall and 1-2-1.
How It Happened
George Mason recorded nine shots to Loyola's one before netting their first goal of the match. Martim Sereno was awarded a penalty kick in the 26
th minute that was saved by
Maxwell Ionita. He'd get a second attempt that was also saved but put away the goal on the rebound.
The Ramblers were down a man following the goal and gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead with an own goal on the 28
th minute. In the 40
th minute,
Lucas Webb was issued a red card for blocking a goal with his arm. The Patriots were granted another penalty kick that would put them up 3-0 at the break against a shorthanded Loyola squad. George Mason found the back of the net one more time in the 76
th minute to win, 4-0.
