BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Loyola Chicago fell in a 14-6 loss at Indiana in Bloomington on Tuesday, March 10. The Ramblers got a boost from junior Nat Lesnicki who who strung together three hits, two RBIs and one double in the ballgame.
Freshman pitcher Anna Kiel (4-3) got the ball to start for Loyola, now 11-14 overall, and took the loss. The rookie helped out at the plate too with one hit in three trips to the plate while adding a double and an RBI. Sophomore Alli Pawlowicz had a noteworthy performance at the dish as well, going 1-for-3 with a first-pitch home run, a walk and an RBI.
How It Happened
The Ramblers opened scoring as Pawlowicz hit a leadoff home run off Hoosiers pitcher Jasmine Reyes. Indiana failed to push any runs across before Loyola scored three more runs in the second inning, buoyed by a two-RBI double from Lesnicki.
Loyola's lead disappeared in the fifth inning, turning into a 6-4 Indiana advantage. The Ramblers scored two more times, the vital hit an RBI double from Kiel, before the Hoosiers scored eight more times over the remaining inning to break the tie and grab the 14-6 run-rule win.
