CHICAGO – Loyola Chicago opened its final home stand of the year with Fordham Saturday afternoon. The Rams took snuck out a 3-2 win in game one and used a 10-run seventh to claim a 15-3 win in game two.
The game one loss goes to
Anna Kiel who struck out four. She falls to 11-6 overall.
Katie Geydoshek falls to 6-6 on the year with the game two loss. The Ramblers will enter the final game of the regular season at 25-22 overall and 17-6 in league play.
At the plate in game one, the Ramblers were paced by sophomore
Alli Pawlowicz, who went 2-for-3 on the day with a home run and an RBI. Senior
Sierra Sass put together a noteworthy effort as well, going 2-for-4. Pawlowicz and
Abbie Gregus each went 2-for-3 in game two.
Game One | Fordham 3, Loyola 2
The Ramblers were trailing 3-0 in the first inning when they first put runs on the board. Sass came across to score the lone run of the inning for Loyola and get them on the board.
The Ramblers kept the deficit at 3-1 before closing the gap further in the second. Loyola picked up a run on Pawlowicz's leadoff home run off of junior Olivia Simcoe, which tightened the Rams lead to 3-2. The Ramblers were unable to get any closer, as neither team scored again in the ballgame.
Game Two | Fordham 15, Loyola 3
The Ramblers were trailing 5-0 in the sixth inning when they first put runs on the board. Loyola scored three runs in the frame, highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of Gregus.
The Ramblers were unable to get any closer, as Fordham added 10 runs to their tally on the way to a 15-3 final.
