Hawkeyes Best Ramblers in Iowa City

IOWA CITY, Iowa - Loyola Chicago lost at Iowa 5-0 Saturday night in the Ramblers' first road contest of the 2026 season.

The loss dropped Loyola's record to 1-1-0 overall.

"Obviously, today was a very difficult result to swallow," said head coach Jon Sandoval. "I have to give credit to Iowa. They came out and performed very well. Unfortunately, tonight came down to choices, and we weren't willing to make the choices necessary to help the team when things got difficult. This team has shown they can be resilient, and we are looking forward to the way we bounce back in Wednesday's match."

How it Happened
Allison Deardorff led Loyola with 10 saves between the posts. She faced 15 shots on target by the Hawkeyes. The Hawkeyes struck first in the ninth minute of action with the game winner off the foot of Liana Tarasco. Iowa would score again in the first half in the 38th minute. The final three goals came in the second half, and the Hawkeyes won, 5-0.

The Ramblers totaled three shots in the loss, two of them on goal.

Game Notes
  • Deardorff recorded 10 saves for the Ramblers out of 29 total Hawkeye shots. She was one save shy of matching her career high.
  • Loyola put two shots on goal.
  • Ana Sofia Mrotzek, Josslyn Weissman, and Sarah Collins all recorded shots for Loyola. Weissman and Collins had the two attempts on target.
Up Next
