Loyola Chicago continues its homestand with a midweek matchup against Saint Louis on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at 4 p.m.
QUICK HITS
- Loyola split its opening Atlantic 10 two-match series with VCU, falling in five sets in the opener before coming back to secure the Ramblers' third sweep of the season.
- Junior middle Chloe Morgan was named the A10 Defensive Player of the Week after totaling 17.0 blocks in the weekend, highlighted by a career-high nine blocks in the five-set loss. It marked the first weekly conference honor of her career and second overall for the Ramblers this season.
- Sophomore right side Katie Scherer led Loyola's offense against VCU, racking up 25 total kills while hitting .333. She contributed 7.0 total blocks for a combined 28.5 points in the series. Her sophomore counterpart, outside hitter Leyna Nguyen, recorded her fourth double-double of the season in the five-setter, recording 12 kills and 10 digs.
- Multiple Ramblers rank in the A10's statistical leaders: Avary DeBlieck second in blocks/set (1.14) and Mallory Bohl is 6th (1.03), Mya Ball second in assists/set (9.11), Nguyen fourth in kills/set (3.66) and in points/set (4.08) and junior libero Sam Falk seventh in digs/set (3.22).
- Loyola returned nine letterwinners and added seven new faces in 2026, including three freshmen (Tenley Davis, Camryn Hughes, Anna Jirmasek) and four transfers (Ball, Bohl, Morgan Jones, Scherer).
- Amanada Berkley entered her ninth season at the helm of the program, holding a 157-101 (.609) record.
SCOUTING REPORT
SLU is 6-7 overall and 1-1 in A10 play so far in 2026. The Billikens traveled to George Washington last weekend, where they split a two-match series with the Revolutionaries, both matches ending after five sets. Sophomore outside hitter Ellie Rink paces SLU's offense with 3.44 kills/set while hitting .223 while sophomore setter Jetta Brenning facilitates the attack behind 8.75 assists/per set, ranking them both fifth in the league in their respective categories. Leading the A10 in blocks/set is junior middle Kayla Jansen, who averages 1.38/set, and libero Lara Zigic ranks sixth in digs/set (3.32). The Billikens were picked to finish eighth in the A10 Preseason Poll after a 5-13 conference record last season.
SERIES HISTORY
In a series dating back to 2006, Loyola leads SLU 19-7, winning eight of their last nine matches. Last year, the Ramblers defeated the Billikens on the road in five sets before SLU returned the favor with a five-set victory in Chicago. DeBlieck had the match-high 10 blocks in the loss.
