Biography
2023-24: Appeared in 31 games this season averaging 7.7 minutes per game... neared a double-double with nine points and eight rebounds vs. New Orleans (Nov. 18)... posted three games with at least five rebounds... tallied six boards and three assists vs. George Mason (Feb. 24)... made three steals vs. Goshen (Dec. 9)... blocked two shots in the opener vs. FAU (Nov. 8).
2022-23: Was 1-of-3 Ramblers to appear in all 31 games this season and made 19 starts … One of the most effective players around the rim nationally, ranking fifth in the country in 2-point field goal percentage (according to kenpom.com) at 73.3% … Finished fifth on the team in scoring average (7.0) and second in rebounding average (4.2) … Scored in double figures nine times on the year, including a pair of 16-point performances in A-10 play to set a new season high … Recorded a double-double in Loyola’s season opener against Fairleigh Dickinson (Nov. 7), finishing with 15 points and bringing in a career-high 15 rebounds … Had five games this year with a perfect field goal percentage (min. 3 FG attempts), including three games with a perfect 6-for-6 effort from the field … Brought in at least one rebound in all 31 games and scored in all but two games.

2020-21: Welch made a big jump from his freshman season and was a key player off the bench, especially in the first half of the season … Finished the season with averages of 4.9 points and 1.9 rebounds per game in 28 appearances, which included his first career start … Sank 60.9 percent (53-for-87) of his field goal attempts and 33.3 percent (10-for-30) of his treys …Loyola went 5-1 when he scored seven or more points … Through the first 17 outings of the year, put up 7.4 ppg and 2.4 rpg … Had seven points and three rebounds in the season opener against Lewis (Dec. 5) … Made his first career start against Saint Francis (Ill.) High School: Helped Naperville North to a second straight DuPage Valley Conference title as a senior in 2018-19, averaging 21.0 points and 8.6 rebounds per outing … Scored 20 or more points 18 times and eclipsed the 30-point mark six times in 2018-19 … Named 2018-19 Naperville Sun Boys Basketball Player of the Year … Collected nine votes for 2019 Mr. Basketball of Illinois … During his junior season, contributed 13.5 ppg, 6.6 rpg and 3.3 apg, helping the Huskies to a 26-3 overall record as well as conference and regional championships … Was rated as high as the No. 5 senior in the state of Illinois … Standout goalkeeper on the Naperville North soccer team, earning Gatorade Illinois Boys Soccer Player of the Year accolades in 2017 after registering a 0.38 goals-against average and 19 shutouts as the Huskies won their second straight state title … Was the starting goalkeeper and recorded 22 shutouts in 2018 as Naperville North won its third consecutive IHSA state crown.
