Jake Baughman, who was a member of the Loyola University Chicago men’s basketball program as a player during its recent run of success, is in his first season as the team’s director of player development. Baughman will assist the coaching staff with scouting and other administrative duties in his new role.
“Jake has been such a valuable member of the Loyola Basketball Family for the past five years and we couldn’t be happier that he will be starting his career in the profession with our staff,” Loyola head coach Drew Valentine said. “He’s an incredibly bright basketball mind and he is as loyal and hard working as anyone I’ve been around. Jake will be an incredible resource for our program. Welcome home!”
During his five seasons on the Loyola roster, Baughman was part of 117 victories, three Missouri Valley Conference regular season championships, a pair of MVC Tournament titles, three postseason appearances, two NCAA Sweet 16’s, a NCAA Final Four and a National Invitation Tournament (NIT) berth.
Baughman appeared in 42 contests during his playing career and Loyola was a perfect 8-0 when he scored a point. Last season, he netted three points in a victory over Chicago State.
Off the court, Baughman was a standout in the classroom and was a member of the MVC Honor Roll as well as the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court.
He earned his bachelor’s degree from Loyola in 2020 and his master's in business administration from Loyola in 2021.
