Sean Dwyer

Sean Dwyer will enter his fifth season with the Ramblers in 2025-26. He was named an assistant in 2021-22 and elevated to associate head coach ahead of the 2024-25 season.

While on staff, the Ramblers have a Missouri Valley Conference Tournament Championship, a NCAA Tournament appearance, an Atlantic 10 Regular Season Title, and back-to-back NIT appearances.

Dwyer helped Loyola to a NIT semifinal run this season as well as a program record 17 home wins after posting a 25-12 overall finish. The Ramblers claimed third in the A-10, earning a double-bye in the conference tournament.

The Ramblers saw two all-conference selections in Jayden Dawson (Second Team) and Miles Rubin (All-Defensive). Rubin set the single-season program record in blocks (85) and field goal percentage (.714), while Sheldon Edwards Jr. shattered the single-season three-pointers made record with 106 made.

In 2023-24, Dwyer played a role in turning the program around with the fourth highest win improvement from the 2022-23 season. Loyola increased its win total by 12 wins, going from 10-21 to 22-10 against Division I opponents. With a 15-3 finish in the A-10, Loyola took home a share of the regular season title and earned a double-bye in the A-10 tournament. The Ramblers carried their success to the NIT.

Dwyer helped coach Des Watson, Braden Norris, and Miles Rubin to All-Conference honors, while Watson also earned NABC All-District Second Team honors.

During the 2021-22 season, Dwyer’s first with the Loyola program, he played a key part in the team reaching the NCAA Tournament for a second straight year. The Ramblers collected 25 wins and earned a second consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Championship title, at one point during the season securing a No. 22 ranking in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll. Dwyer’s work was influential as a number of Ramblers picked up individual recognitions, including Lucas Williamson, who was named First Team All-MVC as well as MVC Defensive Player of the Year, and Braden Norris, who was an All-MVC Third Team choice, among several others.

He was the program’s defensive coordinator in 2021-22 and the Ramblers maintained their defensive identity, ranking among the nation’s best in scoring defense, while also limiting seven opponents to fewer than 50 points.

Prior to his two-year stay at Cincinnati, Dwyer served as an assistant coach at Northern Kentucky University for four years. While at NKU, Dwyer helped the Norse to a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances, a National Invitation Tournament berth and two Horizon League regular-season championships. During his final three seasons on staff at Northern Kentucky, the team posted a 72-30 overall record.

Dwyer also worked at the University of Alabama on Anthony Grant’s staff for four years, serving two seasons as video coordinator (2012, 2013) and two seasons as the special assistant to the head coach (2014, 2015). With the Crimson Tide, Dwyer provided statistical analysis and served administrative roles as the liaison to the compliance office and provided oversight for the student managers.

Before his arrival at Alabama, Dwyer spent the 2010-11 season as the video coordinator at the University of Arkansas and the 2009-10 campaign as the assistant video coordinator at the University of Florida under current Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan.

A graduate of Michigan State University, where he was a student manager, Dwyer was a part of four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances as well as a national runner-up finish in 2009 with the Spartans.
