Buaku joined the Ramblers in the summer of 2024 after serving as the Director of Player Development and Basketball Analytics for Sixth Man San Diego since 2020, a nonprofit basketball organization. Buaku has also worked as an Associate Analyst with HD Intelligence, offering strategic insights through opponent scouting, postgame analysis, and transfer portal management.
Joining HD Intelligence in 2022, he provided strategic insights through opponent scouting reports and postgame data analysis, identifying areas for improvement, and making data-driven decisions to enhance team performance. Buaku managed transfer portal analytics to assess recruits and support team recruitment strategies, contributing to 52% of teams achieving at least two more wins and 41-percent of teams reaching postseason play with 20 or more wins. He has worked with colleges such as Oregon, Texas A&M, UAB, LMU, California Baptist, Oklahoma State, Michigan, and others.
With Sixth Man San Diego, Buaku managed all aspects of off-site basketball programming, including scheduling, staffing, budgeting, and materials distribution. He developed individual growth plans for student-athletes, addressing their needs and personal brand goals, while collaborating with sports performance and medicine staff to enhance conditioning programs. He also created a comprehensive sales plan to boost registration, revenue, and presence throughout the San Diego area.
In addition to these two roles, Buaku served as an Assistant Boys Basketball Coach and Director of Player Development & Analytics at Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego.
Buaku was Team Captain at UC San Diego where he was a four-year basketball letterwinner. He served as President of the Triton Athletes' Council in his senior year and played in 116 games, starting 64, while averaging 3.3 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.8 assists. As a junior, he tied for the team lead with 26 steals and was second in assists and minutes played, highlighted by a career-high 17 points and four steals in an upset win against 13th-ranked California Baptist in the NCAA West Regional semifinal. Additionally, he was an active member of the Division I Student Leadership Group.
A 2014 graduate of El Toro High School, he was named South Coast League MVP and first team All-CIF Division 1A as a senior. He played a key role in leading the Chargers to the CIF Division IA runner-up position in 2013 and a CIF quarterfinal appearance in 2014.
A native of Lake Forest, Calif., Buaku holds a Cognitive & Behavioral Neuroscience degree from UC San Diego.
