Lauren Holbrook was named Horizon League Player of the Week after leading the Ramblers to a pair of conference wins over the weekend

Chicago (October 6, 2003) -- Loyola junior setter Lauren Holbrook (Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral) has been named the Horizon League Volleyball Player of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon.

Holbrook was the driving force behind a pair of Horizon League road wins for the Ramblers over the weekend, helping the team improve to 3-1 in Horizon League play. The highlight of the week came on Friday night in Cleveland, as Holbrook recorded her first career triple-double in a five-game win over the Vikings, finishing with 12 kills, 12 digs and 66 assists. It marked the first time a LU player had accomplished the feat since Patty Murphy turned the trick in Sept., 1998. Holbrook nearly did it again on Saturday afternoon, posting seven kills, 43 assists and a match-high 17 digs in Loyola?s 3-0 sweep of Youngstown State. In three matches last week, Holbrook averaged 13.25 assists/game, 3.17 digs/game and 2.17 kills/game while hitting at a .457 clip (26-5-46).

Loyola (8-10, 3-1 Horizon League), which has won at least a share of the last three regular season conference titles, will be home this weekend for a pair of matches. The Ramblers will host UW-Green Bay on Friday night before facing UW-Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon. Loyola currently stands one-half game behind the Panthers in the standings.
