CHICAGO, Ill. - Loyola Chicago women's volleyball dropped Saturday's match to Bowling Green, 3-1 (22-25, 21-25, 25-19, 20-25), which closed out the 2025 Loyola Invitational.
The loss moved Loyola Chicago to 3-6 on the season.
"Bowling Green is a good team. We created this schedule to be challenged and we definitely were today," said head coach Amanda Berkley. "We've got to learn from this loss. We need to be more consistent. I am really proud of how Karli played today and the whole weekend. We have to keep finding ways for her to score."
Karli Molnau finished with 13 kills on the day to lead the Ramblers attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .435. It marked a season-high for the freshman for the second time this season.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Ramblers used an 8-0 run to fight back from an early deficit to take their first leadt at 13-12. Bowling Green hung on to win the first set 25-22 powered by a .412 hitting percentage in the first. Josie Halbleib led Loyola with four kills in the set.
SET 2 | Loyola fell in the second set 25-21, digging a 2-0 hole in the match. The Ramblers trailed by as many as six points as Bowling Green grabbed the advantage for good at 11-10 in a set that was knotted up six times before the Falcons took over the lead. The Ramblers saved three set points before the Falcons delivered the final blow to win the set.
SET 3 | After losing the first two sets, Loyola rallied to take the third set and make it a 2-1 match. The Ramblers grabbed control of the set early when the score was 2-1 and never looked back to win 25-19. Loyola led by as many as eight points at 20-12, which was built off an 8-1 Rambler run. The Loyola offense also got a boost from three aces in the stanza, while Molnau tallied five kills.
SET 4 | Loyola couldn't keep the momentum and lost in the fourth set 25-20 to drop the match. The Ramblers dropped the set despite a strong showing on the attacking end. Loyola Chicago put together a .321 attack percentage with 12 kills in the set loss.
