Chicago (September 8, 2003) -Â Freshman Mary Dale (Freeport, Ill. / Freeport) has been selected as the Horizon League Player of the Week for women's soccer. The freshman forward from Freeport, Ill., scored the game winning goal in Friday's victory over Western Illinois. The win moved the Ramblers'Â record to a perfect 3-0 for the first time in the program's 12-year history. On the season, Dale has seven points off of three goals and one assist.
"Mary has made a quick transition from the high school and club scene to the collegiate level of competitive soccer," head coach Brendan Eitz said. "Her ability to hold the ball in situations and her nose for the goal has made her an exciting player to watch."
The Ramblers will be back in action this weekend at the ECAC Classic in Cape Cod, Mass., where they will face Brown on Sept. 12, and Yale on Sept. 14.
