Loyola Head Coach Jim Whitesell
Opening Statement
"There were some positive things for us offensively. We got going a little bit, changed some things with the lineup. I thought (Justin) Cerasoli had a nice start, he got some guys the ball. He shared the ball well. We saw some positive things out there. We know we've got a tough road trip ahead of us, and we've really got to play well. At times our offense really hurt us. We've had games where we had good leads and we didn't finish well. We didn't pay well the last 10-12 minutes of the game."
On scheduling a Division III opponent
"You need to have some home games on your schedule. I knew that we would out-man them in a lot of areas but I wanted to see us do some things offensively with the ball, make the extra pass and not worry about every shot that we missed and relax a little bit. Sometimes that'll help a little bit, if we just relax and play offensively. We've had some times when we miss a shot and next thing you know our head drops. We might have been up 12, then we're down five in a matter of minutes. That's happened several times this year. That's just something we have to work out."
On his team's performance
"I like what Cerasoli did, I thought J.R. [Blount] did well. We didn't play those guys a lot of minutes, but it was good to see what they did. Dave Telander shot the ball well. Cortney Horton gave us a lift defensively. It gave him some minutes. He's a guy that's been hurt and lots of times when you're in that situation you don't have a game where you can just give that guy more than a two-minute run. Sometimes this opportunity helps."
