CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago head women's volleyball coach Marcie Bomhack has announced the hiring of Andy Cole as a graduate assistant coach. Cole takes over for last year's graduate assistant Erin Virtue, who is now an assistant coach at Cincinnati.
"I?am very pleased to add Andy to our staff," said Bomhack. "He has great leadership experience from his playing career at Ohio State and will make an impact on our program with his knowledge and passion for coaching volleyball. Andy is a great person who will fit right in with the Jesuit ideals that Loyola believes in."
Cole made his mark on the court during a standout career at Ohio State, ranking eighth on the school's all-time list with 1,155 kills and seventh with 1,335 career points. A three-time Second Team All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) selection, Cole was the league's Freshman of the Year in 2003 and helped the Buckeyes to the NCAA?Final Four in 2005. He was just as successful off the court and earned Ohio State Scholar-Athlete honors all four years. Upon graduation, Cole returned to his native Wisconsin, working numerous camps while coaching the boys 18s team for the Wisconsin Power volleyball club.
Cole graduated from Ohio?State in 2006 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration - Finance.
