Box Score
Green Bay, Wis. - Host Green Bay used a 22-2 run that spanned both halves to take command and cruised to a 78-52 win over Loyola tonight at the Kress Center in Green Bay, Wis. Keisha Collins led the Ramblers (3-14, 1-5 Horizon) with 16 points. Green Bay improves to 14-4, 6-1 with the win.
Loyola opened the game hot, knocking down four three-pointers - three by Maggie McCloskey - to take a 12-8 lead four minutes into the game. The Ramblers' first two-point basket of the game was turned into traditional three-point play by Brittany Boeke and Boeke scored again inside as Loyola hung tough. Turnover problems plagued the Ramblers throughout the opening period and Green Bay was able to open its lead to double figues (27-17)Â on an Erin Templin hoop. Jessica Hylton answered with a three-pointer and a pair of hoops from both Elyse VanBogaert and Keisha Collins helped LU?pull within five, 33-28, at the 6:24 mark. However, the Ramblers would stagnate offensively and managed just one hoop the rest of the way as Green Bay took a 46-30 lead into the locker room. Turnovers were the story of the half, as the Phoenix turned 18 Loyola turnovers into 28 points en route to the 16-point halftime advantage, a stat which negated 60% field goal shooting (12 of 20).
The hosts carried that momentum over into the second half as Loyola struggled to find the range, reeling off the first nine points of the half to complete the game-deciding run that ended with the Ramblers facing a 55-30 deficit.
Collins paced Loyola with her 16 points, one short of her season high. McCloskey and Boeke, who combined for Loyola's first 17 points, finished with nine and eight points, respectively.
Loyola wraps up its swing through Wisconsin when it takes on Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
