Loyola vs. William & Mary
Post-Game Quotes
December 2, 2008

Loyola senior forward Darrin Williams
On the zone at the beginning of the game
"I think it was us not seeing what we had. We were falling apart for a second, but we had to collect ourselves and just try to get baskets. We practice zone all the time. We try to get prepared for anything that teams run against us."

On the end of the game
"That was an exciting game. It could have gone either way had we not gone out on the floor and executed. That last 12 seconds felt like an eternity. We just stayed together and came out with the win."

Loyola Head Coach Jim Whitesell
On the win
"This is a team (William & Mary) that conceivably should have been 5-2 walking in the door. They've had five or six games in a row with 10 or more threes, and sooner or later, they're going to make them. (Danny) Sumner and (David) Schneider are two amazing players. The only thing negative there at the end of the game was we had an eight-point lead and we were in a hurry to shoot. We had them where we wanted them and needed to make them foul us and run the clock. But I thought our guys did a nice job."

On a big team effort from Loyola
"Justin Cerasoli played very well. That was his best game of the year and I was glad to see him play that way because Justin's had some practices just like that that looked very, very good. It was good to see him break out and play like he can. And obviously Darrin Williams had some nice plays. To have Blount, who's your leader, get in foul trouble, and then have to play a lot of the game without him, we're really not used to at all.

"It was a good team win. We're going to be a little bit of a rollercoaster group. We're not going to go out there and just run through things. We're kind of still trying to find our way, but to win two in a row is good and I'm proud of the way our guys played. We're getting better defensively, we've got a ways to go offensively, but I'm happy with the win."

On next game vs. UIC
"It's going to be an awfully tough game. I really think UIC is a team that can be right there for the championship. They have an outstanding guard in Josh Mayo and they have so many other good parts. It's a rivalry game, it's going to be a big game. We've got a lot of work to get in before then. We'll have to play our best game of the year to have a shot."
