CHICAGO - Senior utility player Kat Krause (Arlington Heights, Ill./Hersey) has been voted to the ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District V Team it was announced Thursday. The Loyola University Chicago softball standout becomes the third different Rambler, joining Allison Scanlin (2003-05) and Kari Klier (1993-94), to earn the honor on multiple occasions. Last season, Krause was also a First Team ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District selection.
Krause, who excels in the classroom as a psychology major, has enjoyed another productive season on the softball diamond and will graduate as Loyola's career leader in home runs (32) and currently owns the all-time record with 93 RBI. Through games of May 8, Krause leads the Ramblers with six home runs and a .479 slugging percentage. The slugger is batting .265 with seven doubles and 14 stolen bases.
Off the field, Krause has been a two-time Horizon League Scholar-Athlete of the Week selection this year and is also a Horizon League Academic Honor Roll honoree.
As a First Team Academic All-District V selection, Krause is now eligible to appear on the national Academic All-America ballot. In order to be eligible for academic all-district honors, a student-athlete must be a sophomore or older, own a 3.20 or higher cumulative grade-point average.
