CHICAGO - Former Loyola University Chicago standout Amanda Domich won the Banco Popular Chicago Half Marathon yesterday, completing the race in 1:20:58, at a pace of 6:11 per mile. Domich placed second at the Chicago Distance Classic Half Marathon on Aug. 10 and will make her marathon debut on Oct. 12 in the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
The 2008 graduate enjoyed much success over the past four years as a member of Loyola's cross country and track and field programs. As a senior, Domich won her third consecutive 10,000m title at the Horizon League Outdoor Championships, finishing with a time of 36:44.15. In 2007, she recorded a personal-best 10,000m time of 35:34.10, good for third in school history.
As a freshman, the Algonquin, Ill., native won the indoor 5,000m at the Horizon League Indoor Championships with a time of 17:29.37 and would later top that in 2007, finishing in 17:29.37 to place second in Loyola history.
