STILLWATER, Okla. - Loyola Chicago turned in strong team performances at the NCAA Division I Midwest Regional on Friday at the Greiner Family Cross Country Course, as the women placed 11th and the men finished fifth against deep fields hosted by Oklahoma State.
The Loyola women scored 359 points to secure 11th out of 32 teams in the 6K championship, led by
Roisin Treacy, who earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors for the first time in her career with a 22nd-place finish in 20:59.3.
Other scorers included
Bethany Graham (60th, 21:50.2),
Maggie Powers (87th, 22:14.0),
Eileen Seebon (90th, 22:15.7), and
Pippa Carcas (106th, 22:29.5).
Barbara Neiva (113th, 22:33.7) and Angy Salado Fernández (150th, 23:00.1) rounded out the Ramblers' lineup.
Host Oklahoma State won the women's title with 55 points.
In the men's 10K, Loyola delivered a top-five finish, placing fifth out of 30 teams with 187 points behind the championship-winning Cowboys (38 points). The race marked the first 10K of the season for the Ramblers, who responded with a strong team performance.
Cael Mulholland led the group in 28th at 31:06.9, followed closely by
Jake Phillips in 29th (31:09.0).
Jason Clayton finished 38th in 31:39.9, while
Yusuf Baig (45th, 31:54.3) and
Hayden Healey (47th, 31:54.6) closed out the scoring.
Nate Boutin (51st, 31:57.1) and
Woody Jerome (121st, 33:26.9) completed Loyola's seven-man lineup.
