EVANSTON, Ill. - The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team fell to No. 17 Northwestern, 1-0, on Tuesday night (Oct. 20). The Wildcats (8-2-4) scored in the 83rd minute to slip past the visiting Ramblers (3-6-4).
The Ramblers and Wildcats were locked in a defensive battle before Matt Eliason took a cross from the side of the box, firing a shot from eight yards out past sophomore goalkeeper Peter McKeown for the lone score of the match.
Loyola and Northwestern combined for just 17 shots in the match, with NU holding the 10-7 edge. McKeown finished the match with three saves, while Wildcat goalkeeper Misha Rosenthal recorded five.
The Ramblers return to Loyola Soccer Park this Saturday (Oct. 24) to host UIC in a pivotal Horizon League match. The contest is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. CT.
