Loyola, Cleveland State Play To Scoreless Draw

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer with Cleveland State on Sunday afternoon (Oct. 4), settling for its second draw of the season. The Ramblers (3-9-2, 2-2-2) out shot the Vikings (2-9-1, 1-1-1), 16-6.

Loyola recorded six shots in the first half, including three on goal. LU held the Vikings without a shot for the final 39 minutes of the frame. The Ramblers came out firing in the second half, blasting three shots at CSU goalkeeper Kelly Zinkiewich in the opening minutes. Loyola had seven shots in the half, including a shot by Tessa Daniels in the 75th minute that hit the crossbar.

Neither team recorded a shot in the first overtime period, while the Ramblers had three in the second overtime. Sophomore goalkeeper Katie Groesch had one save in her fifth shutout of the season.

The Ramblers head to Texas this week to take on the Longhorns on Friday night (Oct. 9) and nationally-ranked Texas A&M on Sunday (Oct. 11). The match between LU and Texas A&M will be broadcast nationally on Fox Soccer Channel at 4 p.m. CT.
