Final D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate Results

NORMAL, Ill. - Competing against a tough 18-team field, the Loyola University Chicago men's golf team wrapped up play at the D.A. Weibring Intercollegiate today by finishing in 10th place with a team score of 937. After second-round action was suspended due to darkness yesterday, the teams finished up play in that round and the scheduled third round today as sixth-ranked Illinois claimed the team title with an 875.

Senior Dylan Gergen, who has been playing the best golf of his career this fall, led the Ramblers with a 54-hole score of 229 (77-76-76), which placed him tied for 23rd overall. Fellow senior Sean Collopy bounced back from a rough first round to tie for 39th with a 235 (81-79-75).

Sean Hickey tied for 51st (78-85-74=237), but notched a three-over 74 in today's final round of competition, while Erik Hoops tied for 73rd (82-80-82=242) and Charlie Schaffer tied for 81st (87-82-77) to complete the Loyola list of participants.

Chris DeForest of Illinois earned medalist honors by carding a 216 (74-76-66), including a five-under-par 66 in the final round of play today.

Loyola is back in action when it competes at the Telich/Sunlife Financial CSU Invitational hosted by Cleveland State, Oct. 4-5.
