Postgame Quotes
Loyola 86, Indiana State 74
November 13, 2010
Loyola head coach Jim Whitesell
On the team's rebounding
"I thought our rebounding was huge and Andy (Polka) had two really huge tip-ins. Every time we punched them, they punched us back. Give Indiana State credit. They are a really good team.. We were impressed with Indiana State and know that we have another tough game tomorrow. I was really pleased with our guys' awareness of how well Indiana State shoots the ball."
On the team's defensive effort
"I thought defensively we played really well. I think they made some tough threes in the last four-to-five minutes. A couple, they just shot right over us."
On the team's depth
"I kind of feel like we have seven starters. Andy (Polka) started here for three years and Geoff (McCammon) started the night before. We're still in the process with our other guys. I hope this tournament will be a good thing for us to develop that eight and nine guy."
Loyola senior forward Andy Polka
On the team's defensive effort tonight
"We had to get some stops since we knew they were a good team. They (Indiana State) have a lot of offensive firepower with their guards. We had to stay in the game by making stops on defense. That's what we're going to reply on this year, making stops on defense."
Loyola sophomore forward Ben Averkamp
On how Loyola defended Indiana State's perimeter threat
"We read the scouting report that they run the four-out, one-in. All four guys could shoot the three. They still shot the ball pretty well."
