Loyola Postgame Quotes
Saint Peter's at Loyola
February 19, 2011
Loyola Head Coach Jim Whitesell
On the seniors
"I feel bad for these three guys (Andy Polka, Terrance Hill, Geoff McCammon) and certainly Ryan (Sterling) because our seniors wanted to go out on a winning note."
On Saint Peter's and Loyola's slow start
"First half, we didn't play like we had been playing and give St. Peter's credit there. That's a good basketball team there, they've won eight of their last 10 and beat Alabama."
On the start of the second half
"I thought the start of the second half really put us in a tough situation. We got outplayed through the first eight minutes, badly, and we're down nine, eight and we're frustrated. Then every time we got a big three, Geoff had one, they came down and answered on us."
On the offense
"First half, we tried our ball-screen stuff, our flex action, then we tried our power plays and we didn't have a lot of success with any of those. They kept scoring against our press so we had to go back man-to-man and we played more solidly and came up with some big stops and turnovers that gave us a shot to win that game."
Loyola senior guard Terrance Hill
On his time at Loyola
"My two years here were great. I wish we could've gotten that win not just for myself but for the fans who have supported us every game. We have Valpo next and need to finish off on a winning note."
Loyola senior guard Geoff McCammon
On his time at Loyola
"Andy and Courtney, and my other teammates, they did a lot of the little things that you don't see. Courtney handed me the ball and set a great screen and I was wide open. That's his play. I had a lot of my teammates helping me out to get me going."
Loyola senior forward Andy Polka
On his time at Loyola
"There have been a lot of ups and downs in my career, I've been here a long time. I've really enjoyed the guys that I've played with that graduated before me. Looking forward to, hopefully, going out and winning conference."
