Final Stats
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. - After a back-and-forth contest, Loyola University men's volleyball fell to No. 1 BYU tonight on neutral hardwood in Santa Barbara, Calif. The Cougars bounced the Ramblers in five sets by scores of 25-20, 20-25, 16-25, 25-23, 11-15.
Loyola won the first set by a score of 25-20 to jump out to an early lead. BYU countered, winning the next two sets, to put Loyola in a must-win situation. The Ramblers fought back to win the fourth 25-23 and push the match to five, but were unable to close, falling 11-15 in the final set.
Loyola will close out the UCSB/asics Tournament with a battle for seventh place against Cal State Northridge. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. CST tomorrow.
Loyola is 1-2 against Cal State Northridge, with the Matadors claiming the most recent match-up 2-3 (March 13, 2010).
