EVANSTON, Ill. - Senior Enrique Garcia scored the first goal of his collegiate career but it wouldn't be enough as the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team fell to No.25 Northwestern, 4-1, tonight on a foggy and rainy evening at Lakeside Field in Evanston, Ill.

Chris Ritter opened the account for the home side from the penalty spot in the seventh minute, following a foul by Brian Lunar that saw the junior get shown a straight red card by the head official, putting the Ramblers down a man for the remainder of the game. Joey Calistri, the Big Ten's leading goal scorer, added a second for the Wildcats under three minutes later when he headed home a ball from five yards out following a set piece.

With his side already leading, 2-0, Henry Herrill doubled the Loyola deficit by scoring twice in under two minutes. Herrill's second came on a breakaway down the left side that saw him calmly tuck his shot inside the far par post from twenty yards out.

Loyola, finding themselves in a four-goal hole before they could settle in, looked to turn up the offensive pressure as the half wore on. Seniors Reed Patterson, Garcia and Eric Nock, along with sophomore Jake Savino, misfired before Garcia was taken down in the box in the 39th minute. The Wheeling, Ill. native converted from the penalty to shave a goal off the deficit as the two teams headed to the locker room with Northwestern leading, 4-1.

The visiting Ramblers battled valiantly during the second half, down a man, but were unable to cut into the Northwestern lead as the two teams played through a consistent rain. Junior Brian Bement, the reigning Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week, recorded Loyola's only shot of the second half when his headed attempt went wide of the Wildcat goal in the 65th minute.

Following tonight's defeat, Loyola must now turn its attention to a pivotal conference clash on Sunday afternoon against the Central Arkansas Bears. The Ramblers will honor their seven graduating seniors in a special pregame ceremony prior to the scheduled 1 p.m. kickoff at Loyola Soccer Park.
