CHICAGO - Loyola University Chicago forwards Brian Bement (Waterloo, Ill./Saint Louis University High) and Eric Nock (Cincinatti, Ohio/Walnut Hills) have been named to College Sports Madness' All-Missouri Valley Conference teams. Bement earned a spot on the first team, while Nock garnered second team accolades.
Bement ejoyed a breakout junior season in 2013. The Waterloo, Ill. native led Loyola with seven goals scored. None were bigger than his overtime strike against SIUE on October 26 that secured the Ramblers their first-ever Missouri Valley Conference victory. Bement would be recognized as the Offensive Player of the Week by the Missouri Valley Conference for his efforts during the week, which also saw him net a late goal against Drake on October 23.
Nock exploded out of the gate this season, scoring three goals in Loyola's first two games, after being sidelined for the entire 2012 season due to injury. The senior scored twice against a nationally-ranked Michigan side in the Ramblers' season-opener. He would follow up that performance just three days later by scoring the game-winner against Grand Canyon in the home opener, helping Loyola to its first victory of the season.
The Ramblers are set to take on the SIUE Cougars today at 3 p.m. in Peoria, Ill. in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament.
