In Short…
Visiting Milwaukee jumped out to a 13-point lead after the first quarter and never looked back as it defeated the Loyola University Chicago women’s basketball team by a final count of 73-46 this afternoon inside Gentile Arena. The victory sees the Panthers improve to 2-1 on the season, while the Ramblers slip to 0-3.

How It Happened
Following back-to-back makes by Sierra Ford-Washington to open the game, Kaitlyn Williams knocked down her first three of the afternoon to cut the Milwaukee lead to 4-3 with just over 90 seconds gone. A layup by Bailey Farley at the 6:48 mark sparked a 7-0 Panther run that pushed the margin to 13-3 with 4:43 to go. Loyola would pull back to within nine, 15-6, on a score by Kiana Coomber but Milwaukee continued to operate efficiently on the offensive end as it held a 19-6 lead after one.

Loyola struggled to put a dent in the Panther lead for the majority of the second quarter. A driving finish from Tiara Wallace cut the deficit down to 25-10 with 4:36 remaining. As it did for the most of the day, Milwaukee exploited its size advantage as it attacked the Ramblers in the paint. An old-fashioned three-point play by Ford-Washington at the two-minute mark upped the visitors’ lead to 31-12. A split at the charity stripe by Steph Kostowicz provided Milwaukee with a 35-15 lead heading into halftime.

The duo of Brandi Segars and Katie Salmon looked to provide Loyola with a spark coming out of the locker room with consecutive scores to cut the deficit to 35-19. Williams answered an old-fashioned three-point play from Farley with another triple to pull the Maroon & Gold to within 18, 40-22, at the 7:29 mark. Milwaukee would roar back with the quarter’s next seven points en route to building a 52-31 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

Scores from Citiana Negatu and Coomber, respectively, clawed the Ramblers back to within 17, 54-37, with 7:35 to play. Milwaukee once again answered with a spurt that would see it eventually build a 70-41 edge at the 1:17 mark. A fast break score by Lee Williams provided Loyola with its final points of the afternoon as Milwaukee closed out a 73-46 win.
