CHICAGO (October 10, 2017) – The Loyola University Chicago women's soccer team will head downstate on Wednesday evening for a Missouri Valley Conference clash with in-state foe Illinois State.  Kickoff from Adelaide Street Field in Normal, Ill. is slated for 7 p.m.
 
Last Time Out: Loyola saw its program-record seven-game winning streak brought to an end as it fell to visiting Valparaiso, 2-1, this past Saturday at Loyola Soccer Park.  The Crusaders jumped out to a two-goal edge before junior Jenna Szczesny scored her team-best 11^th goal of the season in the 75^th minute to pull the Ramblers within one.  Loyola would go on to force three stops out of Valparaiso goalkeeper Drew Moulton over the final quarter of an hour but was unable to record a tying goal before time expired.
 
vs. Illinois State: Illinois State rolls into Wednesday's contest on a four-game winning streak that has seen it run its record to 7-5-2 overall.  That includes a mark of 1-1-0 in Missouri Valley Conference play.  The Redbirds are coming off a 3-0 pasting of Evansville this past Saturday at Adelaide Street Field.  Sarah Lafayette netted a pair of goals in the victory, while Haley Smith notched a pair of saves in goal en route to recording a shutout.  Lafayette's two-goal performance from this past weekend brought her goal total on the year to four, a mark that leads the Redbird roster.  She's trailed closely in the category by the pairing of Angel Krell and Kelli Zickert, both of who have three goals apiece.  Zickert also has a team-high three assists to her name.  Smith has seen action in 14 games in goal for the Illinois State and holds a 0.79 goals against average that ranks second overall amongst Valley netminders. 
 
Series Stuff: Loyola and Illinois State will meet for the 17th time in women's soccer on Wednesday evening.  The Redbirds hold a 12-4-0 advantage in the previous 16 meetings, including a 6-2-0 mark in games played at Adelaide Street Field.  In Loyola's last visit to Normal, Ill. to take on Illinois State, Shelby Koch and Avalon Senn-Raemont found the back of the net in the first half as Loyola dealt the Redbirds a 2-1 defeat in an opening round game of the 2015 MVC Women's Soccer Championship.
 
After This: Loyola close out non-conference on Sunday afternoon when it travels to Lexington, Ky. to take on Kentucky in a 1 p.m. kickoff.
