The Valley on ESPN3 vs. Bradley | Live Stats vs. Bradley
CHICAGO (October 19, 2017) – Currently riding a four-game unbeaten run, the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team will close out a brief two-game homestand on Saturday evening when it hosts in-state foe Bradley in a Missouri Valley Conference tilt. Kickoff from Loyola Soccer Park is slated for 7:30 p.m.
Last Time Out: Junior
Fabian Lifka netted a pair of goals, including one from the penalty spot with only three minutes remaining in regulation, as Loyola battled city rival DePaul to a 2-2 double-overtime draw this past Tuesday in Rogers Park. Senior
Elliot Collier, the reigning MVC Offensive Player of the Week, notched an assist on Lifka's first-half tally. Freshman goalkeeper
Evan Konermann notched five saves between the pipes.
vs. Bradley: Bradley, currently sitting at 8-6-1 overall (2-2-1 MVC), finds itself in the midst of a slide that has seen it drop three of its last four games. Veteran head coach Jim DeRose's team is looking to rebound from a 2-1 defeat at the hands of UIC this past Tuesday at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Ill. Frank Bak netted the lone goal for the Braves in the loss. Bradley features a balanced offensive attack that features five players with at least two goals scored on the year. Leading the way for the quintet is Roman Schindler, who leads the team in goals (5), assists (4) and points (14). Brandon Barnes has played in every minute of every game in goal this season for the Braves. Barnes ranks second on the league charts in goals against average (0.90), save percentage (0.846) and shutouts (7).
Series Stuff: Bradley owns a 15-6-0 lead in the 21 previous meetings between the two in-state rivals. The home team has dominated the series of late, with the host prevailing in each of the past five meetings. Bradley picked up a 1-0 win when the two teams met at Shea Stadium in Peoria, Ill. back on Sept. 13. Younes Dayekh leveled the game's deciding strike in the 79th minute to give the Braves a lead that they would not relinquish. Lifka and fellow junior
Alec Lasinski each notched three shots apiece to lead the Maroon & Gold in the defeat.
After This: Loyola wraps up the non-conference portion of its schedule on Tuesday (Oct. 24) when it makes the short trip north to take on Northwestern at 4 p.m. in Evanston, Ill.
