Loyola Set For Non-Conference Finale At Northwestern

Ramblers in search of third-straight win over Wildcats

BTN Plus ($) vs. Northwestern | Live Stats vs. Northwestern

CHICAGO (October 23, 2017) –
Following a thrilling victory last Saturday, the Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team will open up a two-game road swing on Tuesday afternoon when it makes the short trip north to Evanston, Ill. to take on local rival Northwestern.  Kickoff from Martin Stadium is set for 4 p.m.

Last Time Out: Redshirt junior Grant Stoneman headed home the game-winning goal in the 89th minute of play as Loyola defeated Bradley by a final score of 2-1 last Saturday at Loyola Soccer Park.  Sophomore Aidan Megally put the Ramblers on the board first in the early stages of the second half before Gerit Wintermeyer pulled the hosts level in the 84th minute.  Stoneman put any thoughts of overtime to rest when he scored his first goal of the season to extend the Maroon & Gold's current unbeaten run to five games.

vs. Northwestern: Northwestern brings an overall record of 5-10-0 (1-6-0 B1G) into Tuesday's matchup with the Ramblers.  The Wildcats, led by head coach Tim Lenahan, are coming off a 2-0 loss to Michigan State last Friday.  Leading the way for Northwestern on the year has been the duo of Tommy Katsiylannis and Mac Mazzola.  Both have scored three goals apiece, while Camden Buescher has dished out a team-high four assists.

Series Stuff: Northwestern holds a 19-7-6 advantage in 32 all-time meetings with Loyola.  The Ramblers have gotten the better of their neighbors to the north of late though, picking up victories in each of the last two seasons in Rogers Park.  Loyola will be in search of its first victory at Northwestern since a 3-2 triumph during the 1996 campaign.  Last season's scheduled meeting between the two teams was cancelled due to unplayable conditions.

After This: Loyola heads to Springfield, Mo. on Saturday evening to take on Missouri State in a 7 p.m. kickoff at Betty & Bobby Allison South Stadium.
