CHICAGO (November 27, 2017) – Donte Ingram (Chicago, Ill./Simeon), a senior at Loyola University Chicago, has been named Missouri Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week it was announced today. Ingram is the first Rambler to earn MVC Player of the Week accolades this season.
A Preseason First Team All-MVC honoree, the 6-foot-6 guard/forward averaged 14.7 points, 10.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists and 1.0 steals per outing, while shooting 51.7 percent (15-for-29) from the field and 41.2 percent (7-for-17) from beyond the arc, in three contests last week as Loyola extended its win streak to seven games.
Ingram was named co-MVP of the Savannah Invitational last weekend after averaging 16.0 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game, while shooting 57.8 percent (11-for-19) from the field, in wins over UNC Wilmington and Kent State, which both made the NCAA Tournament a year ago. The senior is on the cusp of becoming just the 19
th player in Loyola history to accumulate 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career. Entering this week's action, the Chicago native, who was a Third Team All-MVC pick a year ago, needs 87 points to reach 1,000 for his career.
Dating back to last season, Ingram has scored in double figures in 11 of the last 12 games. At 7-0 Loyola is off to its best start since opening the 2010-11 with an identical record. The Ramblers have started a season with seven consecutive victories just four times since World War II.
Loyola is back in action tomorrow night when it visits Boise State in a Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge Series game.
