CHICAGO (December 16, 2017) – Following a week off for final exams, Loyola University Chicago returns to action on Monday evening when it takes on former conference foe Butler.  Tip-off from inside historic Hinkle Fieldhouse is set for 6 p.m. (CT).

Series Stuff
  • Loyola and Butler will meet for the 61st time as part of a series that dates back to 1983.
  • Monday will mark the first time that the two programs have squared off in a non-conference clash.  Loyola and Butler were two of the founding members of the Midwestern City Conference, now known as the Horizon League.
  • The Ramblers and Bulldogs have not met since the 2011-12 season. Butler owns a 43-17 advantage in the all-time series and has won 16 of the last 17 matchups.

Guard Dogs
  • Butler, who has been idle since a 69-62 victory over Wisconsin back on December 8 in Indianapolis, enters tonight's meeting with the Ramblers at 6-4 on the year.
  • Monday serves as the first game of a back-to-back for the Bulldogs against MVC competition, with a meeting against in-state foe Indiana State coming up on Thursday afternoon in Terre Haute, Ind.
  • Butler is led by the trio of Whitney Jennings (18.5 ppg), Tori Schickel (16.5 ppg) and Kristen Spolyar (11.8 ppg).  Schickel ranks as the BIG EAST's top rebounder, collecting a league-best 11.2 caroms per game.

Up Next
  • Loyola closes out non-conference play with a pre-Christmas matinee on December 22 when it hosts city rival UIC at 12 p.m.
