CHICAGO (August 4, 2017) – The Brooklyn Nets announced today that former Loyola University Chicago standout
Milton Doyle (Chicago, Ill./Marshall/Kansas) has signed a contract with the franchise. The 6-foot-4 guard competed for the Nets during NBA Summer League play in Las Vegas last month and performed admirably, which helped him earn this contract. Terms of the contract were not disclosed.
Â
In four games with the Nets in Summer League action, Doyle put up 10.5 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game, while connecting on 56.7 percent (17-for-30) of his field goal attempts and 50 percent (5-for-10) of his three-point tries. He totaled 13 points and four rebounds against both the Milwaukee Bucks (July 9) and Denver Nuggets (July 13).
Â
A First Team All-Missouri Valley Conference and National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) First Team All-District selection as a senior in 2016-17, Doyle finished his Rambler career ranked eighth in program history with 1,606 points and fifth with 459 assists. During his time in a Loyola uniform, he helped the program to the 2015 College Basketball Invitational title in its first postseason appearance since 1985, and aided in the team earning its first Associated Press Top 25 votes in three decades, in 2016-17. As a senior, he averaged 15.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 4.4 apg and 1.7 spg.
Â
Doyle is attempting to become the first former Loyola player to appear in a NBA regular-season game since Andre Moore in 1987-88.
