Loyola Women’s Basketball Unveils Non-Conference Schedule

Ramblers to meet with five postseason participants from 2016-17

Loyola Women's Basketball 2017-18 Non-Conference Schedule

CHICAGO (September 1, 2017) –
The Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team, led by second-year head coach Kate Achter, announced the non-conference portion of its 2017-18 schedule on Friday morning. The 11-game slate is highlighted by matchups against five teams that advanced to postseason play a year ago, including three 2017 NCAA Tournament participants.

"The start of season two is full of anticipation for us," Achter commented.  "With a full year under our belt, we have been able to put own our stamp on the program.  That includes the schedule.  Our focus was to stay regionally located and competitive, and I believe we've done just that.  We'll face off with three NCAA Tournament teams from last season and a host of other programs that competed for championships.  This schedule will both challenge and help us as we prepare for the rigors of MVC play."

Following an exhibition tilt with Concordia (Ill.) on Nov. 7, the Ramblers will open the regular season on the road by facing Fort Wayne on Nov. 12.  Just three days later (Nov. 15), Western Michigan will provide the opposition in the home opener before a weekend tilt with Youngstown State (Nov. 18) in Rogers Park.

Loyola begins a challenging stretch that will see it play five straight games away from home on Nov. 21 by taking on Milwaukee.  The Maroon & Gold will head back up Interstate 94 exactly a week after battling the Panthers to take on reigning BIG EAST Tournament Champion Marquette (Nov. 28).  Matchups with Chicago State (Dec.1) and Northern Illinois (Dec. 6) bookend a clash against DePaul at the newly opened Wintrust Arena on Dec. 4.

The Ramblers close out non-conference action by playing two of their final three games within the friendly confines of Gentile Arena.  Perennial Horizon League power Green Bay comes to the Windy City on Dec. 10.  Following a break for final exams, Loyola will visit historic Hinkle Fieldhouse for a clash with Butler (Dec. 18) before returning home to host city-rival UIC (Dec. 22).

Achter is set to return seven letterwinners and all five starters from last season.  That group will be bolstered by the addition of five freshmen and graduate transfer Jessica Cerda when Loyola begins practice in October.

Loyola women's basketball season tickets are currently available and start at as little as $60.  For more information, visit loyolaramblers.com or call the Loyola Ticket Office at 773-508-WOLF.
