CHICAGO (September 28, 2017) – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team resumes Missouri Valley Conference play this Saturday when it welcomes Central Arkansas to Loyola Soccer Park for a 7 p.m. kickoff.
 
Last Time Out: Senior Kyle Thomson headed home a free kick from junior Fabian Lifka in the 85^th minute to send Loyola past visiting SIUE, 1-0, last Saturday at Loyola Soccer Park.  The goal was Thomson's second of the season, while Lifka was credited with his team-best third assist.  Freshman goalkeeper Aidan Aylward stopped a pair of shots en route to earning his second shutout of the season.
 
vs. Central Arkansas: Central Arkansas enters Saturday's tilt at 3-6-0 overall on the year.  The Bears picked up back-to-back wins over Valparaiso, 3-2, and Drake, 3-1, respectively, to bring their Valley record to 2-1-0 following a 2-1 double-overtime loss to Missouri State to open league play.  Niklas Brodacki spearheads the attack for head coach Ross Duncan's team, having already netted six goals, a mark that ranks second overall in the MVC.  Marc Olson has started in seven of the Bears' nine games and holds a 1.35 goals against average.
 
Series Stuff: Loyola and Central Arkansas will meet for the sixth time on Saturday evening.  The Ramblers hold a 3-1-1 edge in the series, having prevailed in each of the last two meetings.  In last season's meeting between the two teams in Conway, Ark., senior Elliot Collier scored a pair of goals as the Maroon & Gold cruised to a 3-1 victory.
 
Up Next: Loyola closes out its current homestand on Tuesday evening (Oct. 3) when it welcomes city rival UIC to Rogers Park in a rematch of a First Round game from last season's NCAA Tournament.  Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. from Loyola Soccer Park.
