CHICAGO (September 6, 2017) – The Loyola University Chicago men's soccer team is preparing to make the short trip west to DeKalb, Ill. this weekend for the NIU Adidas Invitational. The Ramblers will open play at the two-day event against The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) at 2 p.m. on Friday afternoon before wrapping up the weekend with an 11 a.m. clash with Stetson on Sunday.

vs. UTRGV: UTRGV enters the weekend with a record of 0-1-1 after hosting a pair of games last weekend as part of the Rio Grande Valley Invitational. The Vaqueros, who were picked eighth in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC) preseason coaches poll, battled St. Bonaventure to a 1-1 double-overtime draw to open the event and dropped a hard-fought 1-0 decision to No. 17 Omaha. Isidro Martinez netted the team's lone goal of the weekend, while Andy Rios started both games in goal.
vs. Stetson: Stetson, which opens the weekend by taking on host Northern Illinois on Friday, sits at 1-2-0 following a comprehensive 3-0 win over Bucknell this past Sunday. Deniz Dogan found the back of the net twice in the Hatters' win over the Bison. Joseph Melong made his first start of the season in goal, making five saves. Prior to defeating Bucknell, Stetson dropped road decisions to Detroit Mercy, 2-1, and Western Michigan, 5-0, respectively.
After This: Loyola will head south down Interstate 55 next Wednesday (Sept. 13) as it faces off against in-state foe Bradley in its MVC road opener. Kickoff from Shea Stadium is slated for 7 p.m.
