Bradley Pink Classic Final Results
PEORIA, Ill. (October 12, 2018) – For the third time in as many events, redshirt senior
Lindsey Brewis led the charge as the Loyola University Chicago cross country teams wrapped up regular-season action at the Bradley Pink Classic in Peoria, Ill. this afternoon.
Loyola came in 11
th overall with 355 points in the final women's red race team standings. The Ramblers were second amongst Missouri Valley Conference competitors, finishing just 39 points back of Bradley (8
th, 316). In the men's red race, the Maroon & Gold checked in with 476 points to land 18
th.
Brewis, fresh off earning MVC Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week honors following her showing at the Loyola Lakefront Invitational back on September 29, was the top Valley finisher in the women's 6k red race. Out of Dearborn, Mich., Brewis checked in at 20:45.8 to finish fifth overall.
Sophomore
Mimi Reimers and freshman
Claire Hengesbaugh were separated by less than nine seconds. Reimers posted a time of 21:40.9 to come in 41
st, while Hengesbaugh claimed 51
st at 21:49.4. Junior
Rita Maurais and freshman
Anya Brett rounded out the Ramblers' top five, placing 123
rd (22:25.3) and 143
rd (22:35.3), respectively.
"I thought the girls ran a solid race today," Loyola assistant coach
Alan Peterson commented. "They've been able to work on a few things throughout every race and we're almost where we need to be heading into championship season. We're in a good position heading into the MVC Championship in two weeks."
In the men's 8k red race, junior
Derek Rink came across first for the Maroon & Gold for the third time in four events. The Appleton, Wis. product turned in a time of 25:46.5 that was good enough to put him in 75
th on the final leaderboard. Senior
Kevin White crossed the finish line 11 seconds back of Rink, finishing 90
th at 25:57.4.
A pair of freshmen occupied the three and four spots in the Loyola top five.
Stephen Pipilas came through in 26:02.8 to take 101
st, with
Nick Chudzik crossing six seconds later in 113
th at 26:08.8. Sophomore
Kenny Wallace finished 130
th in 26:15.6.
In the men's open 8k race, sophomore
Miles Kanipe (11
th, 26:00.9) and junior
Max O'Meara (15
th, 26:12.2) earned spots in the top 15.
Loyola will now turn its attention towards the postseason. The Ramblers return to Peoria, Ill. on October 27 for the 2018 Missouri Valley Conference Cross Country Championship.
