CHICAGO (October 19, 2018) – The annual 'Senior Night' festivities for the Loyola men's soccer team is set for Saturday (Oct. 20) against the Evansville Purple Aces. Fans are encouraged to arrive and be in their seats by 6:30 p.m. for the ceremony ahead of the 7:00 p.m. first kick. This year's class that will be honored includes
Grant Stoneman,
Tucker Stephenson,
Fabian Lifka,
Ryan Walker,
Jimmy Keefe,
Alec Lasinski and
Connor Stevenson.
Â
Last Time Out:Â Loyola pushed its winning streak to three with a 4-0 win over Moody Bible Institute on Saturday (Oct. 18). The Ramblers' tallies came from four different goal-scorers, with
Ethan Stoneman,
Ryan Walker and
Liam Woehrle netting their firsts of the season.
Fabian Lifka scored the game's second goal for the Maroon and Gold and is now tied for the team lead in points with seven. Freshman goalkeeper
Simon Jillson registered his first collegiate win while fellow keeper
Jaylen Davila-Smith made his collegiate debut. With goalkeeper
Josh Lagudah expected to be back between the posts on Saturday, he will carry a 312:11 scoreless streak into the match that is 42 seconds shy of his previous scoreless streak from earlier this season.
A Look at Evansville:Â Evansville is 1-1-1 and checks in as the conference's fifth place team. Head coach
Neil Jones and his staff will be tasked with containing one of the Valley's best playmakers in Simon Waever. The preseason All-MVC selection is tied for second in the conference in assists with five and is coming off a two-assist performance in UE's 2-1 victory over Drake on Saturday (Oct. 13). Junior forward Ben Weber leads the Purple Aces with three goals this season, which have come at opportune times seeing as his two game-winning tallies is tied for third in the conference. The Purple Aces enter the weekend fighting for postseason positioning and sit in a three-way tie for fourth place in the Missouri Valley. Leading Bradley by four points in the standings, a win on Saturday would ensure the host-team will not be left out of this year's MVC Tournament in early-November.
Â
Series Stuff:Â Evansville holds a 17-3-1 edge over Loyola in the all-time series, but the Ramblers have gotten the better of the Purple Aces at least once in two of the last three seasons. The most recent victory came last October and marked the team's third shutout of the season.
Elliot Collier sparked the Maroon and Gold with two goals, while
Alec Lasinski added a goal in between that was assisted by Collier. The five points registered by the former Loyola standout was his second five-point game of the season, and has not been eclipsed by a Rambler since.
Â
Up Next:Â Loyola plays one more home match in the regular season on Tuesday (Oct. 23) vs. Northern Illinois. It will be the two team's first matchup since 2016.
