MVC Weekly Cross Country Release

Lindsey Brewis (Dearborn, Mich./Divine Child) has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Female Cross Country Athlete of the Week, it was announced on Tuesday afternoon by the league office. Brewis has now earned the weekly honor twice this season.
Running before a home crowd at the 41
st Annual Loyola Lakefront Invitational this past Saturday at Montrose Beach in Chicago, Ill., Brewis turned in the top 5k showing of her cross country career in the Sean Earl Women's Collegiate Race. The Dearborn, Mich. product came across in 17:05.7, besting her previous 5k career-best by two seconds, en route to a ninth-place finish.
Brewis, who was named the MVC Women's Female Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2017, propelled the Ramblers to an impressive eighth-place finish amidst a loaded field. The Maroon & Gold totaled 232 points, finishing in front of power five conference foes Texas A&M (253) and Nebraska (304).
Loyola will be idle this weekend before it travels to Peoria, Ill. on October 12 to wrap up the regular season portion of its scheduled at the Bradley Pink Classic.
