BEAUMONT, Texas (February 24, 2018) –
In Short
Freshman
Allyson Ivey went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs, and
Keenan Dolezal pitched a complete game, to lead Loyola University Chicago (5-4) to a 9-1 victory in six innings over Alabama A&M (1-5) on Saturday at the Cardinal Classic.
How It Happened
Run-scoring singles by Ivey and
Jamie O'Brien highlighted a three-run first inning as Loyola jumped all over the Aggies and never let up until earning a run-rule victory. The Ramblers added to their lead in the bottom of the second when Ivey cracked a double to right field that scored
Shannon McGee and
Katie Kasubke, as the lead ballooned to 5-0.
Alabama A&M got a run back in the third but that was the only tally it was able to scratch out against Loyola starter
Keenan Dolezal, who scattered five hits and struck out four over six innings.
The Ramblers were able to close the game out an inning early thanks to a big, four-run sixth that included a RBI single off the bat of Kasubke and another two-run double from Ivey.
A Look At The Numbers
- Four Ramblers tallied multi-hit games, led by Ivey's three-hit effort.
