Boxscore (PDF)

MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (March 2, 2018) –

In Short
Junior Keenan Dolezal was impressive, scattering five hits and allowing only one run, but that tally was all LIU Brooklyn would need as it handed Loyola University Chicago its second one-run loss of the day in the form of a 1-0 decision at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational.

How It Happened
The game was a classic pitcher's duel and Loyola was held without a base hit off of LIU Brooklyn starting pitcher Erynn Sobieski until the top of the fifth inning when Brooke Wilson led off with a single to center. After Wilson moved up a base on a sacrifice hit though, Sobieski escaped harm by inducing back-to-back groundouts to third baseman Angie Vazquez.

Long Island finally broke through in the bottom of the sixth, taking a 1-0 lead thanks to Schae Dickson's sacrifice fly that scored Patricia Griffin, who had reached on a lead-off single.

A Look At The Numbers
  • Wilson managed Loyola's only hit of the game as Sobieski tossed a complete-game one-hitter and did not allow a walk.
Up Next
Loyola continues play at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational tomorrow when it battles Seton Hall at 3 p.m.
