Evansville got on the board first on Lindsey Renneisen's RBI single in the first inning, but Loyola answered back in the bottom of the second inning, tying the game on
Ashley Parenti's fielder's choice that plated
Brooke Wilson, who had reached on an error to lead off the frame.
The Purple Aces busted down the doors in the third inning, pushing across five runs, with the big blow coming in the form of a two-run home run off the bat of McKenzie Johnson, as Evansville took a commanding 6-1 lead and never looked back.
A Look At The Numbers
- Freshman Madison Veres was impressive in relief, tossing 2.0 innings of shutout ball for the Ramblers.
- Loyola managed just four hits off of Evansville starter Morgan Florey, who struck out nine Ramblers on the day.
