In Short
Evansville (11-19, 4-4 MVC) used a five-run third inning to break the game open and earn a 7-1 victory over host Loyola University Chicago (16-14, 3-5 MVC) Saturday afternoon in a Missouri Valley Conference contest.

How It Happened
Evansville got on the board first on Lindsey Renneisen's RBI single in the first inning, but Loyola answered back in the bottom of the second inning, tying the game on Ashley Parenti's fielder's choice that plated Brooke Wilson, who had reached on an error to lead off the frame.

The Purple Aces busted down the doors in the third inning, pushing across five runs, with the big blow coming in the form of a two-run home run off the bat of McKenzie Johnson, as Evansville took a commanding 6-1 lead and never looked back.

A Look At The Numbers

  • Loyola managed just four hits off of Evansville starter Morgan Florey, who struck out nine Ramblers on the day.
