MADEIRA BEACH, Fla. (March 4, 2018)
In Short
SIU Edwardsville (7-3) scored two runs in the first inning and never looked back on the way to a 6-1 victory over Loyola University Chicago (6-7) Sunday morning at the EMU Madeira Beach Invitational.
How It Happened
The Cougars wasted no time getting on the board, tallying a pair of first-inning runs on Tess Eby's two-run homer to left field. SIUE added to the lead with single runs in the third and fourth innings before tacking on two more in the fifth to stretch the lead to 6-0.
Loyola cut into the deficit in the sixth on an
Allyson Ivey solo home run to lead off the inning, but then stranded two runners on base as starter Emily Ingles worked out of the jam.
A Look At The Numbers
- Loyola managed just four hits off Ingles, with Ivey and Katie Kasubke registering extra-base hits.
- Eby finished 3-for-4 with three RBI.

Loyola takes on Villanova later today.
