CEDAR FALLS, Iowa (April 14, 2018)

In Short
UNI (21-16, 6-5 MVC) scored three runs in the first inning and never looked back en route to an 8-0 victory in six innings over visiting Loyola University Chicago (17-18, 3-8 MVC) this afternoon in game one of a doubleheader at the UNI Dome.

How It Happened
Brittney Krodinger's RBI single opened the scoring in the Panthers' three-run first inning that gave them control of the contest.

Loyola wasn't without opportunities against UNI starter Brooke Craig, however, stranding at least one runner on base in all six innings, including two each in the fourth and fifth. After UNI tacked on two more runs in the third inning on Claire Dudek's two-run single, Brooke Wilson doubled with two outs in the fourth inning and Jamie O'Brien followed with a single, but Loyola failed to cut into the deficit.

Shannon McGee's one-out single was followed by a Katie Polaski walk in the fifth, but Craig again worked her way out of the difficult spot without allowing a run, thwarting Loyola's last great scoring chance.

A Look At The Numbers
  • Loyola knocked out seven hits against Craig, but was shut out for the fourth time in the last five games.
  • Allyson Ivey and O'Brien rapped out a pair of hits apiece to spark the Rambler offense.
  • UNI totaled 13 hits off two Rambler hurlers, as each Panther position player produced at least one hit.
