Loyola Women's Basketball Non-Conference Schedule
CHICAGO (August 22, 2018) – Under the direction of third-year head coach
Kate Achter, the Loyola University Chicago women's basketball team announced its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2018-19 season on Wednesday. The Ramblers are slated to take on a quartet of 2018 postseason qualifiers.
"We are very excited about our non-conference schedule," Achter said. "As our program grows, so does our competitiveness, and with that our scheduling. This schedule is set up to reflect that."
Prior to officially opening the season, Loyola will welcome North Central College to Rogers Park for an exhibition game on November 3. North Central is led by former Rambler great Maggie McCloskey-Bax, who is set to begin her first season as the Cardinals' head coach.
The Ramblers will raise the curtain on 2018-19 on November. 9 when they hit the road to take on former conference foe Youngstown State. Detroit Mercy will serve as the opposition for the home opener at Gentile Arena three days later (Nov. 12) before Loyola turns its attention to a clash with city rival UIC on November 17 on the West Side.
November 20 will serve as a homecoming for Achter as she takes the Maroon & Gold to Bowling Green, Ohio for a matchup against Bowling Green. Achter, a 2008 graduate of Bowling Green, led the Falcons to four straight Mid-American Conference (MAC) titles and three NCAA Tournament appearances, highlighted by a Sweet Sixteen berth in 2007, during her time as a player.
Loyola returns home on November 26 to host Chicago State ahead of a "Field Trip Day with the Ramblers" matinee against Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 29). December's early days feature road tests at Western Michigan (Dec. 3) and Purdue (Dec. 9) that bookend a home tilt with SIUE (Dec. 6). Following a break for final exams, Loyola will close non-conference play by hosting UMKC (Dec. 16) and DePaul (Dec. 20).
"I know our players are looking forward to getting back on the court to prepare for this upcoming year," Achter concluded.
Loyola returns seven letterwinners from last season, including sophomore guard/forward
Abby O'Connor, who was named to the Missouri Valley Conference All-Freshman Team.
Season tickets will go on sale in September through the Loyola Ticket Office at (773) 508-WOLF and RamblerTickets.com.
