CHICAGO (September 20, 2018) –
After surging to its second straight shutout victory on Sept. 18 at DePaul, Loyola Men's Soccer goes for its third consecutive victory on Saturday night (Sept. 22) vs. Drake. The contest is the team's fourth match at Loyola Soccer Park this season.

Alumni Night: Saturday represents the program's annual alumni night, featuring a halftime ceremony honoring the 2008 Horizon League Champion Loyola Men's Soccer team. Registered alumni are treated to a reserved table at Bulldog Ale House before the match, and a tent with snacks and refreshments during the match, located on the south portion of the field.  Deadline to register is Friday (Sept. 21) at noon.

Last Time Out: The Ramblers are fresh off a thrilling 1-0 overtime victory from their visit to DePaul on Sept. 18. After no goals were scored through 90 minutes, Grant Stoneman's OT header beat the Blue Demons' keeper in the 94th minute to secure the win and increase the program's unbeaten streak against DePaul to four. With his third shutout in as many starts in goal, Josh Lagudah increased his scoreless minute streak to 289:31. The Australia native was named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week (Sept. 10-16) the same day his team left DePaul with the win.

A Look at Drake: The Drake Bulldogs have enjoyed a bounce back season with marquee wins against No. 9 Butler (Aug. 27) and No. 20 UIC (Aug. 31). With Saturday being their fifth away match this year, the Bulldogs have showed signs of being road warriors by checking in with a 3-1 record away from their home stadium. Entering Friday, the Bulldogs boast Cole Poppen in a tie for third in the MVC in points (9), and have four players who have scored multiple goals through seven games. Head coach Gareth Smith has instilled his trust in FGCU transfer Jared Brown to hold down the fort at goalkeeper. The former Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team honoree has started all seven matches for the Bulldogs and logged a .800 save percentage and a 1.12 goals against average, and has a shutout to his credit at UM-Kansas City (Sept. 4).

Series Stuff: Since head coach Neil Jones took over in 2013, the Ramblers have compiled a 3-1-3 record against Drake, and will enter the 2018 matchup on a five-match unbeaten streak. The two teams fought to a 0-0 stalemate in 2017, while Loyola swept the season series the year before that, posting shutouts in both victories. In the two 1-0 wins in that span, Connor Stevenson and Grant Stoneman scored the lone goals in 2015 and 2016 respectively. In the 4-0 win two years ago, the Ramblers got their goals from four different players, including Alec Lasinski and Ryan Walker. Under Jones, Loyola is 1-0 against Drake in the month of September.

Up Next: After the Drake match on Sept. 22, the Ramblers hit the road for a three-game swing, beginning with a cross-town tilt at UIC on Sept. 25. The Maroon and Gold have not lost to the Flames in Jones' tenure, and take a five-match unbeaten streak into Tuesday that dates back to 2012.
