Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Billy Hency Scores His First Career Goal in OT to Send Loyola Home with a Win

In Short...
Bradley held a 1-0 lead for a good chunk of the second half, until Fabian Becerra tied it up in the 85th minute. Not wasting any time in OT, Billy Hency found the back of the net in the 92nd minute to clinch the match and come away with a 2-1 win. The win was the Ramblers' first against Bradley in Peoria since 1995, and was the 300th all-time win in program history for the Maroon and Gold.

Coach Jones' Thoughts
"Tonight was a fantastic comeback from our guys against an extremely tough opponent," head coach Neil Jones said. "Bradley has had a great start to their season, and we knew tonight was going to be a battle. Even when falling behind, we stuck to our game plan, and congratulations to our two freshmen, Fabian Becerra and Billy Hency, on scoring their first college goals tonight."

How It Happened
Neither team was able to find the back of the net in the first half, while Loyola held a 6-3 shots advantage after 45 minutes of play. Vasco Cardoso found himself in position for the Ramblers' first quality chance, posting a shot in the 11th minute that sailed high.

Now developing a reputation for capitalizing on headers, Grant Stoneman almost scored on another one in the 17th minute, but sent it high as well for the Ramblers' fourth shot in the first 18 minutes of play.

Already checking in on the stat sheet with an early shot attempt, Billy Hency made his presence felt with his first career shot on goal, a strike in the 20th minute that found the hands of BU goalkeeper Albert Reinwart. By extension, Hency's two shots on goal set a new career high.

A Loyola foul triggered a penalty kick for the Braves, an opportunity Gerit Wintermeyer made the most of by putting his team on the scoreboard. The 70th minute PK was the only BU shot that found the back of the net against Lagudah.

With not much time to work with, Loyola got to work engineering the Saturday night comeback with back-to-back shots by Mike Riley and a couple of key substitutions. In the 85th minute, Loyola finally came through with a 25-yard strike off the foot of Fabian Becerra to knot the game up at 1-1. The goal was Becerra's first of his career, and happened after he regathered the ball after the Texas native had it poked away.

Tucker Stephenson notched a late shot that went wide, but the second half scoreboard read one goal apiece when the time hit triple-zeros, so the Ramblers went to overtime for the third time in four matches.

Barely giving the fans enough time to get back into their seats after the pre-overtime break, Billy Hency ended the match in the 92nd minute by dribbling from the middle of the box to the right and beating the keeper to his left. The win improves Loyola to 4-4-1 and now sit at 1-0-1 (4 points) in conference play.

A Look At The Numbers
-Game-winning goal scorer Billy Hency registered four shots in the victory, to set a personal best.
-The 14 shots for the Ramblers is the fourth consecutive match reaching double-digits.
-The win marked the first for the Ramblers this season when trailing at any point in the match.
-The Maroon and Gold have now won three of the last four in the series history with Bradley.
